Viewer’s Perspective on Madhuramu Kadha (Family Star) Movie

As someone who loves a good family drama, I was excited to watch Madhuramu Kadha (Family Star). This Telugu romantic drama, starring Vijay Deverakonda and Mrunal Thakur, promised a heartwarming tale of love and family.

The movie revolves around the life of a middle-class man, played by Vijay Deverakonda, who shoulders the financial responsibilities of his entire family. The story takes an interesting turn when Mrunal Thakur enters their lives as an upstairs tenant. The premise was relatable and I was intrigued to see how the narrative would unfold.

The film starts with a heroic introduction of Vijay Deverakonda’s character, which seemed a bit exaggerated for a middle-class man. The character establishment scenes, like the hair-thin Dosa made in CGI to show his budget control, and an over-the-top fight sequence to showcase his short-tempered attitude, felt a bit overdone. As a viewer, I found these scenes took away from the realism of the narrative.

The initial portions of Mrunal Thakur were delightful and gave me some hope, but the screenplay went off-track with many deviations by forcefully creating problems for Vijay Deverakonda’s family members. The second half of the movie introduced many ridiculous situations that felt irrelevant to the subject. These deviations in the screenplay disrupted the flow of the narrative and made it hard for me to stay connected with the story.

The performances by the lead actors were commendable. Vijay Deverakonda did well in portraying his character, and Mrunal Thakur shone with her subtle performance and sweet presence. However, I found it hard to connect with the chemistry between the lead pair, hence there was no emotional attachment over the characters. This lack of chemistry between the lead pair made it hard for me to invest emotionally in their relationship.

The music by Gopi Sunder was pleasant, with two songs namely ‘Nandanandanaa’ and ‘Madhuramu Kadha’ standing out. However, the background score at many places oppositely resonated the mood of the offered situation. The mismatch between the background score and the mood of the scenes created a disconnect and took away from the emotional impact of the scenes.
